Discover more about Torre de TV Digital

The Torre de TV Digital, or Digital TV Tower, is a prominent landmark in Brasília, Brazil, serving as both a functional telecommunications hub and a striking architectural attraction. Inaugurated on April 21, 2012, to celebrate Brasília's 52nd anniversary, the tower was among the last projects designed by the renowned architect Oscar Niemeyer before his death. Its unique design, resembling a flower, earned it the nickname 'Flor do Cerrado' or 'Savannah Flower'. Standing at 182 meters (597 feet) tall, the tower provides digital television signals to the Federal District and nearby cities. The structure consists of a 120-meter concrete base and a 50-meter metallic structure, topped with a 12-meter antenna. Two glass domes adorn the sides of the tower. Visitors can ascend to the observation decks for 360-degree views of Brasília's unique urban layout, designed in the shape of an airplane by Lúcio Costa, as well as the surrounding Cerrado vegetation. The tower also features a restaurant and an art gallery. The area around the tower includes gardens and pathways for leisurely strolls. Despite some initial structural and accessibility issues that led to temporary closures for renovations, the Torre de TV Digital remains a popular destination, attracting thousands of visitors each week.
