Praia do Santinho, once known as Praia das Aranhas, is a captivating beach located in the northern part of Florianópolis, Brazil. The name 'Santinho' emerged in the 1970s, inspired by a rock carving resembling a saint, where fishermen once prayed for protection. Today, these carvings are recognized as ancient rock inscriptions dating back over 5,000 years, left by the Sambaqui people. These petroglyphs form one of the largest archaeological sites on the island.The beach itself stretches for 2.2 kilometers, offering a wide expanse of fine, white sand. Facing the open ocean to the east, Santinho is famous for its strong, consistent waves, making it a prime spot for surfing. The northern part of the beach transitions into extensive dune fields, adding to the scenic landscape.
