From Ribeira Beach, take the trail towards Prainha (approximately 45 minutes) and then continue for another 15 minutes to São José. The trail is not well-marked, so a guide or trail app is recommended. This option is free, but requires a moderate level of physical fitness.

Day Use

Purchase a 'day use' pass at the restaurant within the Villas de São José condominium. This provides access to the condominium and the beach. Contact the São José Beach Club for reservations and costs, which include a minimum consumption at the restaurant. This is the only way to access the beach by car.

The beach is less crowded than others in the area, offering a peaceful retreat. Visitors can enjoy the natural surroundings, with the Atlantic Forest meeting the coast.The Villas de São José complex has transformed a large part of the area into an Ecopark, where visitors can explore the region's diverse flora and fauna and visit traditional cocoa plantations. While the beach itself has limited infrastructure, the nearby São José Beach Club offers high-class dining with panoramic ocean views.
