Discover more about Recife Brazil Temple

The Recife Brazil Temple is a prominent symbol of faith for members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in northern Brazil. Dedicated in 2000, it was the second temple built in Brazil, providing a closer option for members who previously had to travel a lengthy 50 hours to the São Paulo Temple. The temple sits on 5.59 acres adorned with mango and palm trees, creating a peaceful environment. The exterior is finished with Asa branca granite from the Brazilian state of Ceara, and a single spire rises, crowned by a gold statue of the angel Moroni. Inside, the 37,200-square-foot temple houses two ordinance rooms and three sealing rooms. President Gordon B. Hinckley presided over the groundbreaking in 1996 and dedicated the temple in 2000. He noted the site's visibility near a highway and the beauty of the existing trees as key factors in its selection. The temple not only serves as a place of worship but also as a community hub, offering patron housing and a distribution center. While there is no dedicated visitor's center, the temple welcomes those who wish to find peace and connect with their spirituality.
