Mirante do Caeté: Prainha's Panoramic Jewel

Mirante do Caeté is a captivating viewpoint located inside the Parque Natural Municipal da Prainha, offering some of the most stunning views in Rio de Janeiro. The name 'Caeté' translates from Tupi to 'virgin forest', perfectly capturing the area's well-preserved Mata Atlântica. Inaugurated in 2001, the park spans 147 hectares, dedicated to preserving the natural environment between Prainha and Grumari beaches. The trail to Mirante do Caeté is a relatively easy hike, making it suitable for families and beginner hikers. The well-marked path winds through the forest, offering glimpses of the surrounding flora and fauna. The hike to the top takes around 30 to 40 minutes. From the summit, visitors are rewarded with panoramic views of Prainha, Macumba, Recreio dos Bandeirantes, and Barra da Tijuca beaches. The iconic Pedra do Pontal and the majestic Pedra da Gávea can also be seen in the distance. The viewpoint provides a unique perspective of Rio's coastline, blending the natural beauty of the beaches with the lush greenery of the surrounding hills. The park itself is well-maintained and offers facilities such as restrooms, showers, and a visitor center. It's a popular spot for picnics and relaxing after a hike or a day at the beach. The park is open from 6 AM to 5 PM, Tuesday to Sunday.
