81C: Where Art, Culture, and Cocktails Converge

Located at 81C Kronprindsens Gade in Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, 81C is more than just an art gallery; it's a cultural hub where art, history, and community converge. Housed in a beautifully renovated 1810 rum warehouse, 81C offers a unique and immersive experience. The space showcases world-class artwork with a focus on emerging Virgin Islands artists, providing a platform for their talent and a glimpse into the authentic Caribbean life. 81C officially opened its doors in October 2020 after extensive renovations led by owner Zack Zook, with the aim of revitalizing the historic building and contributing to the town's social and economic fabric. Partnering with Joseph Hewes and Augustin Holder, Zook transformed the space into a dynamic venue that celebrates architecture, culture, and history. The ground floor is split into two distinct areas: a fine arts gallery and a space where arts and retail coexist harmoniously. In March 2023, 81C expanded its offerings with a coffee and wine bar, serving 100% vegan pastries. The second floor features a luxury loft, providing accommodations for visiting artists and travelers. With its Soho loft vibes, 23-foot vaulted ceilings, and curated art, the loft offers an intimate space for special experiences. 81C also operates a nonprofit organization, 81C Arts, which supports local artists through youth outreach, enrichment programs, and a full-scale gallery exhibition program.
