Tortola's economy was primarily based on agriculture and fishing until the rise of tourism in the late 20th century.Today, Apple Bay offers a serene escape with its uncrowded beach, restaurants, and bars. While some of the area's iconic beach bars were affected by past hurricanes, the area has recovered and continues to offer a welcoming atmosphere.
