Originally, Wickams Cay and Little Wickam's Cay were small islands in Road Harbour. These islands, along with Bird Cay and Dead Horse Cay, were annexed to the mainland to create a larger area for development.The transformation was spearheaded by British investor Ken Bates, who aimed to turn the British Virgin Islands into a prime tourist destination. While Bates initially secured long-term lease agreements, local protests led by Noel Lloyd resulted in the nullification of these agreements, with Bates receiving compensation.Today, Wickams Cay is split into two sections: Wickhams Cay I and Wickhams Cay II. Wickhams Cay II is known as a hub for yacht charter companies, offering a marina with numerous berths and various services. It serves as an idyllic starting point for sailing adventures in the British Virgin Islands. Visitors can find a range of amenities, including restaurants, bars, and shops.
