Hi, I'm Eve. Here are a few practical things to know before exploring Captain Jug Charters.
Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Walking
Captain Jug Charters operates from the National Park Dock in Cruz Bay. If arriving by ferry from St. Thomas, exit the ferry terminal and walk straight ahead towards the waterfront. The National Park Dock is located to the right, a short walk along the harbor. No costs are associated with this final approach.
Public Transport
If arriving via the VITRAN bus from elsewhere on St. John, disembark at the Cruz Bay ferry terminal. From there, walk towards the waterfront and the National Park Dock will be on your right. The VITRAN bus costs $1 per ride.
Taxi
Taxis are readily available throughout St. John and frequently service the Cruz Bay ferry terminal. Request a drop-off at the National Park Dock in Cruz Bay. Taxi rates vary depending on your origin, but from locations within Cruz Bay, the fare should be minimal. Expect to pay around $5-$8 per person for a short ride within Cruz Bay.
Parking
If driving, parking in Cruz Bay can be challenging, especially during peak season. Several paid parking lots are available, including the Lumberyard and Slim Man's. Rates range from $5-$15 for a couple of hours. Free parking is very limited, with a few spots at the ferry dock and the Customs lot, but these fill up quickly. The National Park Dock has spots that are closed as of February 28th, 2023. Factor in potential parking costs and time when planning your arrival.
