    Discover more about Mountain Top

Mountain Top, perched atop St. Peter Mountain, stands as one of St. Thomas's premier tourist attractions, offering visitors breathtaking panoramic views from its expansive observation deck. At approximately 1,500 feet above sea level, it provides sweeping vistas of over 15 islands and cays, including Magens Bay, St. John, and the British Virgin Islands. Originally opened in 1963, Mountain Top has evolved into a multifaceted destination. While it's known for its duty-free shopping, featuring an array of jewelry, clothing, and souvenirs, the highlight for many is the chance to savor the iconic Banana Daiquiri. Legend says that in 1953, a British sea captain, Capt. George Soule, created the famous cocktail here, blending Cruzan Rum, sugar cane extract, bananas, lime juice, and a secret banana liqueur. Mountain Top faced a devastating fire in the 1970s but was rebuilt and continues to welcome visitors. Today, it remains a symbol of resilience and a place where tourists can capture postcard-perfect views and enjoy a taste of the Virgin Islands.
