Getting There

  • Walking

From the Cruz Bay ferry terminal, the National Park Dock is a short walk. Upon arrival at Cruz Bay ferry terminal, look for the dock area. The National Park Dock is located adjacent to the ferry terminal. Follow the signs for the National Park Dock; you should be able to see Captain Jug Charters' booth or signage easily from the terminal.

  • Public Transport

If arriving on St. Thomas, take the ferry from either Red Hook or Charlotte Amalie to Cruz Bay. From Red Hook, the ferry ride is approximately 20 minutes and costs $8.15 for adults and $1 for children. From Charlotte Amalie, the ferry is approximately 45 minutes and also arrives in Cruz Bay. Once in Cruz Bay, the National Park Dock is a short walk from the ferry terminal. Alternatively, the Vitran bus system services various areas of the island and usually runs Monday - Friday. Vitran buses run along Centerline Road. The buses travel from the Cruz Bay ferry dock, through to Coral Bay, Salt Pond Bay and back to Cruz Bay. The Public Bus system is not very reliable, if you are on a tight or limited time schedule it is not a good idea to depend on the bus.

  • Taxi

Taxis are readily available at the Cruz Bay ferry dock. Tell the driver you want to go to the National Park Dock, which is within Cruz Bay and a short ride. Taxi rates in St. John are per person, and a short trip within Cruz Bay will likely cost around $6-$8 per person. Note that Uber is not available on the island.

  • Parking

If driving, parking in Cruz Bay can be challenging, especially during high season. Several paid parking lots are available, including Slim Man's, L&L, and the Lumberyard. Rates vary, but expect to pay around $15 for 2 hours or $25-$50 for the day. Free parking is limited, but you can try the DMV lot near the tennis courts or the Customs lot across from the post office, though these fill up quickly. Some businesses like Mongoose Junction offer free parking for customers. A new paid parking lot in Cruz Bay called El Gissmo is located beside Nature's Nook and across the street from the bulkhead.
