  • Driving

From Cruz Bay, the main town on St. John, drive east along either North Shore Road or Centerline Road towards Coral Bay. Centerline Road is shorter, while North Shore Road offers more scenic beach views. Upon reaching Coral Bay, follow Route 107 south. After approximately 4 miles, you'll find the parking lot for Salt Pond Bay on your left. Parking is free, but the lot can fill up quickly, especially during peak season, so arrive early. From the parking lot, the Ram Head Trail begins at the eastern end of Salt Pond Bay Beach.

  • Taxi

Taxis are available on St. John, particularly in Cruz Bay. Arrange for a taxi to take you to the Salt Pond Bay parking lot, the starting point for the Ram Head Trail. Ram Head Peak, marking the southernmost point of St. John, offers a memorable hiking experience within the Virgin Islands National Park. The Ram Head Trail, approximately 2.3 miles roundtrip, is considered a moderate hike, typically taking around 90 minutes to complete. The trail then leads along the rocky shoreline, past unique geological formations such as Blue Cobblestone Beach, and through groves of cacti, creating a landscape unlike any other on St. John. As you ascend to Ram Head Peak, you'll be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the island's rugged coastline, the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea, and even neighboring islands like St. Croix and the British Virgin Islands on a clear day.
