Discover more about Jumbie Beach

Jumbie Beach, nestled along the scenic North Shore Road on St. John, is a small, often-overlooked paradise that offers a tranquil alternative to its more popular neighbors. Located between Hawksnest Bay and Trunk Bay, this charming beach is a favorite among locals and those in the know, who appreciate its quiet beauty and relatively uncrowded atmosphere. Jumbie Beach is characterized by its soft, white sand and crystal-clear turquoise waters. The beach is fringed with lush seagrapes, providing plenty of natural shade, especially in the late afternoon. The water is typically calm, making it ideal for swimming and relaxing. However, due to its orientation, Jumbie can experience higher surf at times, adding a touch of drama to the scene. Snorkeling enthusiasts will find decent opportunities along the rocky edges of the beach, particularly towards Trunk Bay, where a shallow reef teems with colorful fish and coral. Keep an eye out for reef squid, parrotfish, and other fascinating marine life. One of the main draws of Jumbie Beach is its relative seclusion. With limited parking and a slightly hidden entrance, it tends to attract fewer visitors than Trunk Bay, allowing for a more intimate and peaceful beach experience. From the beach, you can enjoy stunning views of Trunk Bay, as well as the islands of Jost Van Dyke, Green Cay, and Great Thatch. The beach was named after the treasured Jumbie Trees, known as the Silk Cotton trees.
