Lind Point Trail: A Hike to Stunning Beaches

The Lind Point Trail is a popular and easily accessible hike located in St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands, within the Virgin Islands National Park. This well-maintained trail begins just behind the National Park Visitor Center in Cruz Bay, making it ideal for travelers arriving by ferry or those without a vehicle. The trail offers a moderate 2.3-mile round trip, with options for both upper and lower paths, each providing unique perspectives and leading to the beautiful Salomon and Honeymoon beaches. The lower trail is slightly shorter and less hilly, making it a preferred route for those primarily interested in reaching Salomon or Honeymoon Beach. The upper trail climbs gradually, offering stunning views of Cruz Bay and Pillsbury Sound. A notable stop along the upper trail is the Lind Point Battery Overlook, situated at an elevation of 140 feet, providing an excellent vantage point for photographs. Historically, the area around the Lind Point Trail was once known as Estate Lindholm, dedicated to cotton cultivation during colonial times. Today, the trail winds through diverse environments, including cactus scrub and dry forests, showcasing the island's natural beauty. Keep an eye out for the night-blooming cereus, a cactus-like plant that produces magnificent white flowers that bloom at night.
