Long Bay: Tortola's Tranquil Beach Escape

Escape to Tortola's Long Bay: a mile of serene white sand, turquoise waters, and laid-back Caribbean charm.

Long Bay Beach, situated on the western end of Tortola in the British Virgin Islands, is a captivating destination renowned for its stunning natural beauty and tranquil ambiance. This mile-long stretch of powdery white sand meets the clear turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea, creating a picturesque scene ideal for relaxation and recreation. The beach is backed by lush green hills, adding to the sense of seclusion and serenity. Long Bay offers a more laid-back experience compared to some of the busier beaches in the BVI. Visitors can enjoy swimming in the calm waters, sunbathing on the soft sand, or taking leisurely walks along the shoreline. The eastern end of the beach is home to a resort where food and drinks are available. Historically, the area around Long Bay has been inhabited for centuries. The palm grove at Belmont was once the site of a Taino settlement. Today, Long Bay Beach Resort reflects the island's colonial history with its architecture and the 1748 Restaurant, housed in an 18th-century sugar mill. Long Bay was reimagined after Hurricane Irma devastated the original property. The rebuilt resort blends modernity with the timeless allure of the British Virgin Islands.
