The attraction also features the Caribbean's largest duty-free gift shop, offering a wide array of souvenirs, jewelry, clothing, and spirits. According to local lore, British Sea Captain George Soule created the now world-famous Banana Daiquiri at Mountain Top in 1953. The recipe includes Cruzan Rum, sugar cane extract, ripe bananas, fresh lime juice, and a secret banana liqueur. Today, Mountain Top serves this iconic cocktail to millions of visitors each year.In the 1970s, a fire nearly destroyed Mountain Top, but the landmark was rebuilt and continues to welcome tourists. Today, visitors can still see the original Mountain Top sign that survived the fire.
