Walking
From the Tortola Pier Park, Road Town's center is easily accessible on foot. Head west along the Waterfront Drive, passing the ferry terminal and customs office. Main Street, with its shops and restaurants, is just a block inland from the waterfront. The J.R. O'Neal Botanic Gardens are a short walk south of Main Street. No costs are associated with walking around Road Town.
Public Transport
While there isn't a formal public bus system in Road Town, taxis are readily available near the ferry terminal and cruise ship dock. A short taxi ride within Road Town typically costs around $5-$10 USD. Be sure to agree on the fare before starting your journey. Note that some private companies offer shuttle services, particularly for tourists.
Ferry
Road Harbour is a major ferry hub connecting Tortola to other islands. Several ferry companies operate from the Road Town Ferry Terminal, offering routes to Virgin Gorda, Jost Van Dyke, St. Thomas, and other destinations. Ferry fares vary depending on the destination, but expect to pay around $20-$40 USD for a round-trip ticket to a nearby island. Check the ferry schedules in advance, as they can change.
