Jong Batu, a captivating historical landmark, sits in the Brunei River, east of Istana Nurul Iman. This rock outcrop, part of the Lumapas mukim, is approximately 20 meters long and 15 meters wide. Its unique shape resembles a sinking ship, with the bow appearing to stick out of the water. The legend of Nakhoda Manis, or "Captain Sweet," is associated with Jong Batu. The tale tells of a son who achieved wealth but denied his poor mother. Today, Jong Batu is a popular spot for sightseeing, especially on river cruises. A light buoy warns mariners of the rock. The landmark offers a serene atmosphere and a connection to Brunei's cultural heritage.
