Taman Arkeologi Kota Batu, located approximately 5km from Bandar Seri Begawan, marks the site of Brunei's ancient capital, Kota Batu, which thrived from the 14th to the 17th centuries. The park was the first site in Brunei to be gazetted under the Antiquities and Treasure Trove Act in 1967. The park features a 1,580-meter walkway, allowing visitors to explore the three main zones: the hill zone, the flatland zone, and the riverbank zone. Excavations have also revealed a square stone structure with pillar bases, suggesting a building with a three-tiered roof. Kota Batu is also home to the tombs of the 3rd and 5th Sultans of Brunei. A bridge connects the park to Pulau Terindak, a man-made island that once served as a jetty and observation point for ships navigating the Brunei River. The Information Center provides an overview of the site's history and displays some of the artifacts discovered.
