Getting There

  • Public Transport

    From the central bus station (BSB Bus Station) on Jalan Cator, take bus lines 01A, 01C, 20, 22 or 57. These routes pass near the Jame' Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque. Ask the driver to drop you off at Masjid Jame 'Asr (Simpang 127). From there, it's a short walk to the mosque. Bus fare is around BND 1 per ride.

  • Taxi

    Taxis are available in Bandar Seri Begawan, but are not as common. You can book a taxi in advance or use the Dart ride-hailing app, which is similar to Uber. A taxi ride from the city center to the mosque will cost approximately BND 15, depending on traffic. Note that there is a 50% surcharge between 6 PM and 6 AM.

  • Walking

    From Kiarong Complex, walk along the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Highway. The mosque will be visible from the highway. The walk is approximately 1.3km and will take around 15-20 minutes.

The mosque's 29 golden domes represent Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah being the 29th Sultan of Brunei. The main prayer hall can accommodate up to 3,500 worshippers. Inside, visitors will find Austrian strass crystal glass chandeliers, Italian marble, and Persian carpets. The Mihrab is decorated with 24-carat gold-plated tiles and black marble stones. The surrounding landscape features serene gardens with fountains and pools , offering a peaceful escape. The mosque is open to tourists outside of prayer times, providing a welcoming setting to appreciate its beauty and learn about Islamic culture. Visitors are asked to dress modestly, and robes are available.
