    From Smolyan, head towards Ustovo Housing Estate in the direction of Madan. After Podvis village, take the left junction to Ryaka village. A signpost will indicate the turnoff to the fortress on the left. Drive to the foot of the fortress, 1.6 km from Gradat village, where parking is available. The final stretch involves a short hike to the entrance.

    Take a bus from Smolyan to Momchilovtsi; buses run several times daily, costing around 2 BGN. From Momchilovtsi, you can walk (approximately 4 km) or take a taxi to the fortress. A taxi should cost approximately 10-15 BGN. Alternatively, take a bus from Smolyan to Gradat village. From there, it's a 1.6km walk to the foot of the fortress.

Momchil's Fortress, also known as Momchilova Krepost, is a historic site nestled in the Rhodope Mountains near Gradat village in the Smolyan municipality. The fortress's origins trace back to a Thracian rock sanctuary from the end of the 5th millennium BC, with construction of the stronghold itself attributed to Emperor Justinian I in the 6th century AD.
