Car
If you are driving, start from the town of Sapareva Banya. From the center of Sapareva Banya, head east on the main road towards the Rila Mountain National Park. Follow the signs for Skakavitsa Waterfall. After approximately 5 km, you will reach a parking area near the trailhead. Parking may require a small fee, so be prepared with some Bulgarian lev. From the parking area, you will need to hike approximately 2 km to reach the waterfall, following the marked trail.
Public Transportation
To reach Skakavitsa Waterfall via public transport, take a bus from Sofia to Sapareva Banya. Buses run regularly from Sofia's Central Bus Station to Sapareva Banya. Once you arrive in Sapareva Banya, you can either walk to the trailhead (approximately 1 km) or take a taxi to the parking area near the waterfall trail. If walking, proceed east on the main road until you see signs for Skakavitsa Waterfall. The taxi fare should be relatively inexpensive, typically around 5-10 BGN. After reaching the parking area, hike the 2 km marked trail to the waterfall.
Hiking
Once you reach the parking area, begin your hike toward Skakavitsa Waterfall. The trail is well-marked and should take approximately 30-45 minutes to reach the waterfall. Be sure to wear comfortable hiking shoes and carry water. The trail may have some steep sections, so be prepared for a moderate hike.
