Getting there

Car

If you are traveling by car, start from the center of Rila and head southeast on the main road (E79) towards the Rila Monastery. After approximately 7 km, take the exit toward the Seven Rila Lakes. Follow the signs to the Seven Rila Lakes area, which is a popular starting point for hikes to Haramiyata (Black Peak). The drive takes about 15-20 minutes. Once you reach the Seven Rila Lakes parking area, you may need to pay a parking fee (typically around 5-10 BGN). From here, you will begin your hike towards Haramiyata.

Public Transportation

To reach Haramiyata (Black Peak) using public transportation, take a bus from Rila to the town of Sapareva Banya. Buses run regularly and the journey takes about 30-40 minutes. Once in Sapareva Banya, transfer to a minibus or taxi that goes to the Seven Rila Lakes area. The minibus ride should take around 20-30 minutes. Be prepared for a small fee for the minibus ride, usually around 3-5 BGN. After arriving at the Seven Rila Lakes parking area, you will need to hike to reach Haramiyata.
