Getting There

Car
From Rila, head southeast on the main road towards the Rila Monastery. Follow signs for Rila Monastery (Монастир Рила) and continue for approximately 10 km. Once you reach the monastery, look for signs leading to Rila National Park and the hiking trail. The trailhead is located near the parking area adjacent to the monastery. Parking fees may apply, typically around 5 BGN per day.

Public Transportation
Take a bus from Rila to the Rila Monastery. Buses run regularly and the journey takes about 30 minutes. The bus station in Rila is located in the town center. Once you arrive at the Rila Monastery, follow the signs to the hiking trail. Be prepared for a short walk from the bus stop to the trailhead, which is about 500 meters from the monastery. Ensure to check the bus schedule for return trips, as they may not run late in the evening.

Once you reach the trailhead, begin your hike. The Rila National Park trails are well-marked, and the Hiking Trail Viewpoint is approximately 3 km from the monastery. The hike will take about 1 to 1.5 hours depending on your pace. Bring water and snacks, and wear appropriate hiking gear.
