Car Rental
If you're driving, start from the town of São Filipe, which is about 30 km away from Mosteiros. Head north on the main road (EN1-Fogo) towards Mosteiros. After approximately 20 km, turn left onto a smaller road when you see the sign for Mosteiros. Continue on this road for about 10 km until you reach the village of Mosteiros. Once in Mosteiros, follow the signs towards Monte Barro. Gira Lua is located near the summit of Monte Barro, so you may need to park at the base and walk a short distance up the hill.

Public Transportation (Aluguer)
From São Filipe, you can take an 'aluguer' (shared taxi) to Mosteiros. Find the aluguer station near the market in São Filipe. The fare is approximately 200 CVE per person. The journey takes about 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive in Mosteiros, you will need to either walk or arrange a taxi to take you to Monte Barro. The taxi fare from Mosteiros to Monte Barro is about 500 CVE, and it’s advisable to negotiate the fare in advance.

If you are already in Mosteiros, you can walk to Gira Lua. From the center of Mosteiros, head towards the mountain. The path may not be well-marked, so ask locals for directions to Monte Barro. Expect a hike of about 30 minutes to an hour depending on your pace, as the road can be steep in places. Ensure you wear comfortable shoes and bring water, as it can get hot.
