Car
If you are driving from the town of São Filipe in Fogo, head northwest on the main road (EN1-FG). Follow the signs towards the ferry terminal in the town of Porto Novo. The drive takes approximately 40 minutes. Once you reach Porto Novo, park your car at the designated area near the ferry terminal. Be prepared for a ferry ride to São Vicente, which costs around 2,500 CVE (approximately $25). The ferry ride takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Upon arrival at the São Vicente ferry terminal, you can either walk or take a taxi to your final destination.
Public Transportation
From São Filipe, you can take a local taxi or shared minibus (called 'aluguer') to Porto Novo. The cost should be around 300 CVE ($3) per person, and the journey will take about 30-40 minutes depending on traffic. After reaching Porto Novo, follow the crowd to the ferry terminal and purchase a ticket for the ferry to São Vicente, which costs approximately 2,500 CVE ($25). The ferry trip lasts about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Once you arrive at the São Vicente terminal, you can take a local taxi or walk to explore the island.
