To reach Pelourinho via public transportation, take a 'Aluguer' (shared taxi) from Santa Maria to Espargos. The ride costs approximately 200 CVE (Cape Verdean Escudo) and takes about 15 minutes. From Espargos, you can catch another Aluguer heading towards Cidade Velha, which will cost around 100 CVE. Once you arrive in Cidade Velha, walk towards the National Highway and follow the signs to Pelourinho, which is located close to the historical center.
