Yorba Regional Park: An Anaheim Oasis

Yorba Regional Park, a green escape in the heart of Anaheim, stretches over 140 acres in the scenic Santa Ana Canyon. This linear park, over a mile long, was once part of Bernardo Yorba's Rancho Canon de Santa Ana, a sprawling cattle ranch and farm in the 1800s. The County of Orange purchased the land in 1972 for $3.6 million and opened Yorba Regional Park as its official bicentennial project in December 1976. The park's design emphasizes a water-oriented environment, recreating the natural setting of the adjacent Santa Ana River. Four lakes connected by streams provide a relaxing atmosphere and opportunities for fishing and model boat sailing. Anglers with licenses can try their luck catching catfish, trout, bluegill, or bass. Yorba Regional Park is known for its extensive picnic facilities, boasting over 400 picnic tables and 200 barbecues, many shaded by trees and structures. Seven group shelters are available for reservation, accommodating events of various sizes. Visitors can also enjoy bicycle trails that connect to the Santa Ana River Trail, leading 20 miles to the Pacific Ocean. Other amenities include playgrounds, volleyball courts, horseshoe pits, ball diamonds, and a physical fitness course. Wheel Fun Rentals operates within the park, offering bike, kayak, and paddleboat rentals. The park hosts events throughout the year, including the OC Parks Summer Cinema Series and other community gatherings. With its blend of natural beauty and recreational opportunities, Yorba Regional Park provides a perfect spot for families, outdoor enthusiasts, and anyone seeking a peaceful retreat.
