Discover more about Tank Hill

Tank Hill Park, a hidden gem in San Francisco, offers an unparalleled perspective of the city's iconic skyline and natural beauty. Unlike the bustling tourist hotspots, Tank Hill provides a serene and relatively secluded environment, perfect for those seeking a moment of tranquility amidst the urban landscape. Originally part of a Spanish land grant, the area now known as Tank Hill served various purposes throughout San Francisco's history. In the late 19th century, a large water tank was constructed on the hill to supply water to the growing city, hence the name. Eucalyptus trees were planted to conceal the water tank during World War II. The tank was removed in 1957. The city repurchased the land in 1977 and turned it into a park. As you ascend the hill, the panoramic views gradually unfold, revealing a breathtaking vista of San Francisco's most famous landmarks. From the towering skyscrapers of downtown to the majestic Golden Gate Bridge and the rolling hills of Marin County, Tank Hill offers a unique perspective. The park's natural terrain provides a diverse habitat for local flora and fauna, adding to its appeal for nature enthusiasts. Tank Hill is also a popular destination for dog owners.
