From downtown Berkeley, head to the bus stop at Shattuck Avenue and University Avenue. Take the AC Transit Bus number 12 towards San Francisco. Ride for approximately 30 minutes and get off at the stop at Kearny St & Clay St. From there, walk south on Kearny St for about 5 minutes until you reach Jack Kerouac Alley, which is located just off of Kearny St.

Start at the Downtown Berkeley BART station. Take the BART train towards San Francisco/Daly City. Get off at the Montgomery St. station after about 20 minutes. Once you exit the station, head east on Post St, then turn left onto Kearny St. Walk north on Kearny St for about 10 minutes until you reach Jack Kerouac Alley, which will be on your right.

If you are near the UC Berkeley campus, start at Sproul Plaza. Walk towards Telegraph Avenue and head south until you reach the intersection with Bancroft Way. Turn right onto Bancroft Way and continue until you reach Shattuck Avenue. Turn left onto Shattuck and walk towards downtown Berkeley. Continue walking until you reach the bus stop at Shattuck Avenue and University Avenue to catch the AC Transit Bus number 12 towards San Francisco.

If you have a bike, you can ride from Berkeley to San Francisco. Start by heading south on Shattuck Avenue. Follow the bike lanes until you reach the Bay Bridge bike path. Ride across the bridge and follow the signs towards the Embarcadero. Once you reach the Embarcadero, head north along the waterfront and turn onto Kearny St. Continue walking north on Kearny St until you reach Jack Kerouac Alley.
