From downtown Berkeley, head to the nearest bus stop on Shattuck Avenue. Take the AC Transit bus line 1, 51, or 7 towards Richmond or the Golden Gate Bridge. Ride for about 30-40 minutes until you reach the Marin Headlands stop. Once you disembark, follow the signs toward the park entrance, which is only a short walk from the bus stop.
Bicycle
If you're feeling adventurous, consider renting a bicycle from one of the many rental shops in downtown Berkeley. Head north on Shattuck Avenue, then take a left onto University Avenue. Continue straight until you reach the San Francisco Bay Trail. Follow the trail, which will lead you toward the Marin Headlands. This route is approximately 10 miles and offers scenic views along the way.
Walking
For those who enjoy a hike, you can walk to the Marin Headlands from nearby trails. Start at the Golden Gate Bridge Welcome Center. Walk across the Golden Gate Bridge and follow the trail signs to Marin Headlands. It is a scenic route, but be prepared for a long hike as it is about 8 miles from the center of Berkeley.
