Getting There

Driving

If approaching from San Francisco, follow I-80 East towards Oakland. From Oakland, take I-80 West towards San Francisco. Be prepared for traffic, especially during peak hours. Tolls are collected in the westbound direction (towards San Francisco). As of 2025, the toll is $8. Note that tolls are now cashless and are collected via FasTrak or license plate account.
Public Transport

From San Francisco, BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) offers service to Oakland. Get off at a West Oakland BART station. From there, you can connect to local transit or bike to the Bay Bridge Trail. AC Transit also provides bus service across the Bay Bridge. A single ride on Muni, San Francisco's public transit system, is $3.00, or $2.75 with a Clipper Card. A day pass costs $5.70. BART fares vary depending on the distance traveled.
Biking/Walking

The Bay Bridge Trail provides access to Yerba Buena Island from Oakland for cyclists and pedestrians. There is currently no bicycle and pedestrian access across the entire Bay Bridge. The eastern span of the Bay Bridge has a protected bicycle and pedestrian pathway. A Caltrans bicycle shuttle operates between Oakland and San Francisco during peak commute hours for $1 each way.
