Getting There

Walking
If you are in the heart of Big Sur, start at the Big Sur River Inn. Head southeast on CA-1 S for about 0.5 miles until you reach the intersection with Palo Colorado Rd. Turn left onto Palo Colorado Rd and continue for about 3 miles. This road will lead you through some beautiful redwood forests and along the coastline. After 3 miles, you will need to turn right onto Garrapata State Park. Walk through the park for approximately 1 mile until you reach the trail that leads to the coastal views. Follow the trail for another 1.5 miles until you reach a viewpoint overlooking the ocean. From there, you can enjoy the breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean before heading back the way you came.

For those who prefer biking, start at the Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park. From the entrance of the park, head south on CA-1 S for about 4 miles. Once you reach the intersection with Highway 46, turn left and continue for about 2 miles. You'll pass several scenic overlooks and coastal views. Keep an eye out for the signs leading to the Village of Fae. As you approach, park your bike at a designated bike rack and walk the remaining distance to the entrance.
