    Discover more about The Broad

The Broad, founded in 2015 by philanthropists Eli and Edythe Broad, has quickly become a cultural landmark in Los Angeles. Located on Grand Avenue in downtown Los Angeles, this contemporary art museum is home to nearly 2,000 works of art, showcasing pieces from the 1950s to the present. The Broad's mission is to make contemporary art accessible to the widest possible audience, and general admission is free. The museum's architecture, designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro in collaboration with Gensler, is as captivating as the art it houses. The 'veil-and-vault' concept defines the building, with a porous, honeycomb-like exterior 'veil' that filters natural light into the gallery spaces and a solid 'vault' that houses the museum's storage. This design creates a unique and engaging visitor experience. The Broad's collection features renowned artists such as Andy Warhol, Jeff Koons, Yayoi Kusama, and Jean-Michel Basquiat. Visitors can explore diverse exhibitions and installations, including Yayoi Kusama's Infinity Mirrored Room – The Souls of Millions of Light Years Away, a mesmerizing experience of lights and mirrors. The museum also offers a mobile guide with audio tours and activities. Beyond its collection, The Broad is committed to education and engagement, offering public programs, films, and concerts. The museum has achieved LEED Gold certification for its sustainable design and practices. The Broad has also contributed to the revitalization of Grand Avenue, increasing pedestrian traffic and street life in the area.
