Car
Start from South Lake Tahoe and get on US-50 E. Continue on US-50 E for about 14 miles. Merge onto CA-89 N and follow it for approximately 17 miles. Then, merge onto I-80 E towards Reno and drive for about 10 miles. Take exit 185 for CA-267 N towards Truckee. Continue on CA-267 N for about 8 miles until you reach Truckee. Once in Truckee, follow signs to Donner Lake, and you will find parking available along the lake.

From South Lake Tahoe, take the BlueGo public transit bus towards Truckee. The bus will take you along US-50 E, and then it will connect with I-80. Stay on the bus until you reach the Truckee Transit Center. From there, you can either walk or take a local shuttle service towards Donner Lake. Follow the signs to Donner Lake, which is about a 1.5-mile walk from the transit center.

If you're starting from North Lake Tahoe, take CA-28 S towards Tahoe City. Once you reach Tahoe City, turn onto CA-89 S and continue for about 12 miles. Merge onto I-80 E towards Reno. After about 10 miles, take exit 185 for CA-267 N towards Truckee. Follow CA-267 N for about 8 miles to reach Truckee, then follow the signs to Donner Lake.
