Walking
From the Malibu Pier, head east on Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) for about 1.5 miles. You will see the entrance to the Backbone Trail on your left at the intersection with Corral Canyon Road. The trailhead is clearly marked, and there is a small parking area for those who need it.
Public Bus
Take the Metro Bus Line 534 from the Malibu Civic Center. Board the bus heading towards Santa Monica and get off at the stop nearest to Corral Canyon Road. From there, walk east on PCH for about 0.2 miles until you reach the entrance to the Backbone Trail on your left.
Bicycle
If you're renting a bike, you can ride along the Pacific Coast Highway. Start from any central point in Malibu, such as the Malibu Lagoon State Beach. Head east along PCH for approximately 1.5 miles. The entrance to the Backbone Trail will be on your left at Corral Canyon Road.
