Maurice Car'rie Vineyard, a true icon of Temecula Valley wine country, provides an inviting and warm wine country atmosphere. The winery sits on 70 acres, with some of the oldest vines in the region, originally planted in 1968. Budd and Maurice Van Roekel established the winery in 1986, making it one of the first operational wineries in the valley. In 2018, Janak Patel purchased Maurice Car'rie Winery. The winery's tasting room is located in a large Victorian-style building, complete with a wrap-around porch. Inside, visitors can enjoy wine tasting and shop for gifts. The vineyard produces a variety of wines, and is best known for its white wines. A bistro-style restaurant offers the winery's famous baked brie in sourdough bread. On weekends, an arts and crafts fair adds to the lively atmosphere. Maurice Car'rie is also a wedding and event venue, set in a geological bowl within the historic bed of the Santa Margarita River. The barn and windmill have been landmarks on the property since 1905. Wine grapes were first introduced to California in 1769 by Junipero Serra. In 1968, Vincent Cilurzo planted the first grapes in Temecula Valley. Today, Temecula Valley Wine Country boasts 47 wineries.
