Driving
From the Joshua Tree Visitor Center in Twentynine Palms, drive south on Utah Trail, which becomes Park Boulevard inside the park, for approximately 14 miles. Turn left onto Keys View Road and continue for about 1.5 miles. The Cap Rock parking area will be on your left. Note that parking is limited and can fill up quickly, especially during peak season. Consider visiting early in the morning or on weekdays to avoid crowds. Entrance to Joshua Tree National Park requires a pass, which can be purchased at the entrance stations or online. A private vehicle pass costs $30, valid for 7 days.
Public Transport
While there is no public transportation directly to Cap Rock Nature Trail, you can take a taxi or ride-sharing service from nearby towns like Twentynine Palms or Joshua Tree to the park entrance. From there, you would need to arrange for a ride to Cap Rock, as relying on ride-hailing services within the park can be risky. A taxi or ride-share from Twentynine Palms to Cap Rock (approximately 15 miles) could cost around $40-$60. Park entrance fee is $30 per vehicle.
