Discover more about Sonoma TrainTown Railroad

Sonoma TrainTown Railroad is a unique and captivating destination that blends the allure of model trains with the fun of an amusement park. Founded by Stanley Frank in 1958 and opened to the public in 1968, this 10-acre park features a miniature railway meticulously crafted to a quarter-scale. Frank, who passed away in 1977, was deeply involved in the design, construction and landscaping of the park. The park has continued to evolve with Frank's family still running the day-to-day operations. The main attraction is a 20-minute train ride on a 15-inch gauge railway, traversing four miles of track. The journey takes passengers through tunnels, over bridges, and past meticulously detailed miniature buildings and landscapes. A highlight of the ride is a stop at Lakeview, a miniature old Western town complete with a petting zoo, where visitors can interact with friendly animals like goats and llamas. In addition to the train ride, Sonoma TrainTown offers several other amusement rides geared towards younger children. These include a carousel, a Ferris wheel, a mine train roller coaster, and an airplane ride. The park also features a roundhouse showcasing the various locomotives, a gift shop, and snack options. With its charming atmosphere and attention to detail, Sonoma TrainTown Railroad provides a memorable experience for families seeking a nostalgic and engaging outing.
