Step back in time at the USS ALABAMA Battleship Memorial Park, a tribute to American military history located on Mobile Bay. The park's main attractions are the USS ALABAMA (BB-60), a WWII battleship, and the USS DRUM (SS-228), a Gato-class submarine. Both vessels are designated as National Historic Landmarks. The USS ALABAMA earned nine battle stars during WWII and led the American Fleet into Tokyo Bay on September 5, 1945. Explore the ship's decks, turrets, and interior spaces to get a sense of what life was like for its 2,500 crew members. The USS DRUM is the oldest American submarine on public display. Visitors can climb inside and experience the cramped conditions faced by submariners during the war. In addition to the ships, the park features an Aircraft Pavilion with over 30 historic planes and military vehicles, including a B-52 bomber and an A-12 Blackbird spy plane. The park also displays various memorials, tanks, and artillery pieces. The park provides a self-guided tour, allowing visitors to explore at their own pace.
