Getting There

Driving

Approaching Morro Bay from Highway 1, follow the signs towards the Embarcadero. Once on the Embarcadero, parking is available in various lots and along the street. Be aware that parking can be limited, especially during peak season. As of October 2023, the Morro Bay City Council directed staff to take the first step in developing a plan for paid parking at Morro Rock. The city is considering how paid parking might integrate with circulation between the Embarcadero and Morro Rock. Free parking is available on Front Street, Beach Street and Pacific Street, a short walk from Morro Rock. Parking is free in Morro Bay. However, no person shall stop, stand or park a vehicle on any street upon which signs are posted in the central business district between the hours of two a.m. and five a.m.
Public Transport

The San Luis Obispo Regional Transit Authority (RTA) provides bus service to Morro Bay. Route 12 connects Morro Bay to San Luis Obispo and Los Osos. From the bus stop, you can easily walk to the Embarcadero and other attractions. Morro Bay Transit operates a year-round fixed bus route Monday through Friday, along with a Call-A-Ride curb-to-curb service for destinations within ¾ mile of the main route. The trolley also runs seasonally through downtown and the waterfront areas. A short bus ride on RTA Route 12 brings you to downtown Morro Bay from San Luis Obispo.
