Discover more about Victor Hugo Winery

Victor Hugo Winery is a testament to passion and dedication. In 1984, Victor Hugo Roberts and his wife, Leslie, purchased an abandoned cattle ranch with an ancient redwood barn. They transformed the property into a welcoming winery that feels like home. The strikingly restored 100-year-old barn serves as the heart of the winery, housing the tasting bar within its barrel room. Visitors can sample Victor Hugo's award-winning wines while enjoying the cool ambiance. The winery specializes in small, handcrafted lots of wine with intense colors and flavors, produced from 100% estate-grown fruit. Approximately 95% of the wine is from estate fruit, with the remainder purchased from vineyards contiguous to the property. The 78-acre estate is planted with a variety of grapes, including Chardonnay, Zinfandel, Syrah, Petite Sirah, Viognier, and five Bordeaux reds. Visitors are encouraged to stroll through the vines or relax on the patio in front of the tasting room. The vineyard's location in the Templeton Gap benefits from warm days, breezy afternoons, and cool nighttime temperatures, ideal for producing balanced and elegant fruit. Appointments are recommended to ensure personalized attention from the owners, Victor and Leslie.
