Once you reach the town of Monterey, look for signs directing you to downtown. Turn right onto Pacific Street. The Old Monterey Jail will be on your left at 580 Pacific St. The walk from the bus stop to the jail should take about 10-15 minutes.

    Take the Monterey-Salinas Transit bus line 21 from Big Sur to Monterey. The bus departs from various stops in Big Sur, including the Big Sur River Inn and the Post Ranch Inn. The journey takes about 30-40 minutes. When you arrive at the Monterey Transit Plaza, transfer to the MST 1 bus towards Pacific Grove and get off at the Pacific Street stop. Walk east on Pacific Street for a few minutes, and you will find the Old Monterey Jail at 580 Pacific St on your left.
