Tatum's Garden: An Inclusive Playground for All

Tatum's Garden is more than just a playground; it's a testament to community spirit and inclusivity. Inspired by Tatum Bakker, the park was created to provide a space where children of all abilities can play side-by-side. The playground features a variety of play structures, including slides, climbing areas, and swings, all designed with accessibility in mind. The park's farm theme reflects the Salinas Valley's agricultural heritage, creating a playful and engaging environment. The garden includes smooth, rubber surfaces and adaptive swings to ensure children using wheelchairs and those with physical disabilities can easily navigate and enjoy the space. Musical instruments and other sensory play components further enhance the experience for all children. Tatum's Garden is managed by the Tatum's Garden Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to cultivating accessible, inclusive play. The park became Blue Zone Certified in 2022. Open daily from 9 am to 6 pm, Tatum's Garden offers a safe and welcoming environment for families. It stands as a model for inclusive play spaces, fostering empathy and understanding among children.
