Bus
From downtown Santa Barbara, walk to the Santa Barbara Amtrak Station located at 209 State Street. Once there, catch the MTD bus line 28 heading towards Goleta. The bus will take you directly to El Capitán State Beach. The journey takes approximately 30-40 minutes. Make sure to get off at the El Capitan State Beach stop. From the bus stop, walk towards the beach entrance, which is a short distance away.
Bicycle
If you're feeling adventurous, you can rent a bicycle from one of the many rental shops in Santa Barbara. Head west on Cabrillo Boulevard, following the coast. The ride to El Capitán State Beach is about 15 miles and takes roughly 1 hour. Follow the bike path along the ocean, turn onto Highway 101, and look for the El Capitán State Beach exit. Once you reach the entrance, park your bike in the designated bike racks.
Walking
If you are near Goleta, you can walk to El Capitán State Beach. Start from the Goleta Beach Park, located at 5986 Sandspit Road. Walk north along the coast on the beach path, which will eventually lead you to El Capitán State Beach. This scenic walk is about 2 miles and should take around 40 minutes. Enjoy the beautiful views along the way!
