Discover more about Kalyra Winery

Kalyra Winery, located in the heart of Santa Ynez Valley, embodies the spirit of its Aboriginal name, meaning 'a wild and pleasant place'. Founded by Australian winemaker Mike Brown in 1989, Kalyra blends the best of Santa Barbara varietals with international influences from Australia, Portugal, France, and Spain. The winery's tasting room, with its relaxed, beachcomber vibe, gained fame after being featured in the movie 'Sideways'. Visitors can enjoy wine tastings at the bar featured in the movie and browse the Kalyra Boutique. The outdoor deck and lawn offer tranquil picnic spots with panoramic views of the surrounding vineyards and the San Rafael and Santa Ynez Mountain Ranges. Kalyra's vineyards are part of the original 'Vina de Santa Inez,' planted in 1968, considered the inaugural vineyard in Santa Barbara County. Mike Brown's winemaking studies at UC-Davis and experience in Australia's Barossa Valley led him to create Kalyra's unique international blends. The winery offers a diverse portfolio of wines, including white, red, sparkling, and dessert wines, with a focus on affordability and quality. Kalyra is family-friendly and welcomes leashed dogs on its outdoor premises.
