If you prefer public transport, take the Metro Blue Line to the Long Beach Transit Mall station. From there, transfer to the Long Beach public bus system. You can take the Route 1 bus towards Long Beach City College and get off at the Long Beach Ferry Terminal stop. After that, purchase your tickets for the Catalina Express ferry to Avalon. The total journey will take around 1.5 to 2 hours, including waiting times.
