Discover more about Oceanside Municipal Pier

The Oceanside Municipal Pier, a prominent landmark in this vibrant coastal city, extends 1,954 feet into the Pacific Ocean, offering visitors a variety of activities and breathtaking views. As one of the longest wooden piers on the West Coast, it holds a special place in the hearts of locals and tourists alike. Originally built in 1888, the pier has been rebuilt and renovated six times, with the current structure completed in 1987. Throughout its history, the pier has been a hub for fishing, recreation, and community events. The Junior Seau Pier Amphitheatre, located at the foot of the pier, hosts numerous cultural and musical performances throughout the year. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll along the wooden planks, taking in the panoramic ocean views and watching surfers ride the waves. Fishing is a popular activity, with anglers casting their lines in hopes of catching local species. The Oceanside Pier Bait Shop, located mid-pier, provides fishing gear, bait, and advice. No fishing license is required. The pier is also an excellent spot for whale watching and dolphin spotting. While a fire in April 2024 damaged a portion of the pier, the majority remains open for the public to enjoy. Rebuilding is expected to be completed by 2027.
