Discover more about Turlock Community Theatre

The Turlock Community Theatre stands as a testament to the city's vibrant arts and culture scene. Designed by renowned California architect William Henry Weeks, the building first opened its doors in 1925 as the Turlock High School Auditorium. For over 60 years, it served as a hub for entertainment and community gatherings, hosting everything from high school plays and graduations to concerts by acclaimed artists like the Von Trapp Family, the Vienna Choir Boys, and the San Francisco Ballet. Tragedy struck in November 1979 when a fire severely damaged the theater's art deco interior. However, the community rallied together to restore this beloved landmark. In 1986, concerned citizens formed the Turlock High School Auditorium Restoration Fund, a non-profit organization dedicated to saving the theater. After nearly 14 years of tireless fundraising and restoration efforts, the theater reopened in 1999 as the Turlock Community Theatre, marking a new era of cultural enrichment for the region. Today, the 1,000-seat Turlock Community Theatre continues to host a diverse range of performances, including popular headlining entertainers, symphony orchestras, dance troupes, comedians, and theatrical productions. It also serves as a home for local arts organizations, providing a platform for aspiring performers and fostering a vibrant creative scene. The theater is also home to the Turlock Community Concert Association series of performing artists, the Turlock Junior Miss Program, and the Miss Stanislaus County Scholarship Program. With its comfortable seating, excellent acoustics, and high production values, the Turlock Community Theatre remains an invaluable part of the Turlock community.
