Bokor Lake: A Serene Oasis in Bokor National Park

Bokor Lake, also known as Popokvil Lake, is a scenic man-made lake located within the Preah Monivong Bokor National Park in Kampot, Cambodia. The lake's history dates back to the 1920s when it was created as part of a French colonial resort for the wealthy. For a time, the lake was a popular spot for boating and picnicking. Over the years, the lake has experienced many changes. During the Khmer Rouge regime, Bokor Mountain was abandoned, and the lake was used as a dumping ground. In recent years, the area has been restored and redeveloped as a tourist attraction. Today, Bokor Lake is a tranquil spot surrounded by lush greenery and towering mountains. Fed by a natural spring, the lake's water remains fresh and clear year-round. A floating pavilion, built in traditional Khmer style, sits on the water, offering visitors a unique vantage point. Visitors can rent boats to explore the lake and take in the picturesque views. The lake is also near other attractions such as Popokvil Waterfall and Bokor Hill Station.
